real companhia velha

Real Companhia Velha, established on September 10, 1756, by a royal charter issued by King D. José I and overseen by his Prime Minister, Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, the Count of Oeiras and Marquis of Pombal, has upheld its long-standing traditions by providing the finest Ports.

The company is the custodian of some of the Douro’s most exquisite quintas, situated in the region's prime areas. Quinta do Casal da Granja, with its cool climate, is the source of their White Ports, an ideal environment for white grape cultivation. Red Ports are crafted from parcels at Quinta das Carvalhas, Aciprestes, and Síbio. Quinta das Carvalhas, home to venerable vines, is the genesis of their Premium Ports, including Vintages and Colheitas.

Royal Oporto

porto Silva Reis

Spanning four generations, the Silva Reis family has maintained a strong connection to the Port industry, beginning with José dos Reis, born in 1895. However, it was his son, Manuel da Silva Reis (1921-2007), who truly made a mark on the industry. Embarking on his career at a young age, Manuel experienced a rapid rise during the post-war period, expanding the Silva Reis holdings through strategic acquisitions and becoming a prominent vineyard owner in the Douro Valley.

Manuel da Silva Reis, driven by the passion to produce exceptional Ports, painstakingly studied the terroirs. He singled out the finest parcels for Port production, thus bolstering the reputation of the Silva Reis Port brand. His dedication to understanding and harnessing the unique attributes of the land ensured the growing prominence of Silva Reis in the world of Port.
