Quinta do Vallado
Quinta do Vallado
established in 1716, is one of the oldest and most distinguished wine estates in the Douro Valley of Portugal. For nearly 200 years, it belonged to the iconic Ferreira family, whose pivotal role in the region's winemaking history is well-recognized.
Strategically located near the confluence of the Corgo and Douro rivers, the Quinta spans a considerable 70 hectares of vineyards, predominantly cultivating traditional Douro grape varieties. The estate is well-known for producing both high-quality table wines and port wines. Quinta do Vallado successfully blends its rich heritage with contemporary wine production techniques. The old winery, comprised of granite lagares (traditional open fermenting tanks), has been carefully maintained, while a state-of-the-art new winery was constructed in 2009, representing the estate's commitment to innovation in winemaking.
